Supple richness and concentrated flavor are the centerpiece of this release. Extended barrel aging has developed earthy flavors to complement the candied and dried floral aromas. The rum has a long and complex finish with round and warming alcohol that gives drive to the dense flavors across the palate. The tannin is well integrated, giving a silky texture, and the integrated alcohol and well knit flavors gives a weighty character. It is a dry and smokey on the finish, richly textured, densely flavored, cask strength rum to be enjoyed as a sipping rum or in proper measure to add depth to any cocktail. Especially suited to the rum old fashioned and co-mingling with Silver Reserve in the daiquiri. Cooperage: New American oak, 24 mo. outdoor air season, #3 char, 53 gallons Distilled: May 29th, 2014 Age: 2 years, 10 months, 22 days (1057 days) Harvested: February 24, 2017 Visual: Clear, deep copper with flashes of gold. Aroma: Clean nose, pronounced and developed aromas of tobacco leaf, custard, cigar, sandalwood, smoke, biscuit, brioche, dried golden apple, candied cherry, raspberry leaf, cinnamon, allspice, clove, and dried pineapple. Floral aromas of acacia and lilac. Smoke, tar, and roses. Palate: Dry, toasty, with big mouth coating body, warming but round alcohol, and mouth watering acidity. Pronounced flavors of brown butter, leather, toasted walnut, brioche, dried cherries, cinnamon, clove, forest floor, and mineral tones. The rum has a soft edge and supple mid-palate with a with a complex core of flavor. The finish is long featuring mineral tones, toasted hazelnut, and custard flavors.
